Beautiful Christmas Displays at Paris’ Big Department Stores

December 7, 2010
Every year, the big department stores on the Boulevard Haussman, the Galeries Lafayettes, the Printemps, as well as the BHV near the City Hall or the Bon Marché in St. Germain des Prés, bring out their Christmas decorations much to the delight of thousands of little kids and adults alike who can admire the magical window scenes by standing on the small benches set out by the “Grands Magasins”.

Year after year, the Christmas displays in the windows get more inventive as the stores give carte blanche to renowned fashion and luxury goods’ designers, such as Christian Dior and Karl Lagerfeld, to turn their facades into elegant and elaborate works of art. This year’s theme at the Galeries Lafayette is the Magic of Musicals while Alber Elbaz for Lanvin has imagined for the Printemps an enchanting “Christmas at the Château” featuring dancing puppets.

From the teddy bears having dinners with rabbits to the penguins dressed to the nines laying lazily among incredible gift ideas, the displays usually offer the perfect mix of fashion, products and cute animated figures.

My favorite displays are Galeries Lafayette’s ! I love musicals, this is a very nice theme. I want to see Mamma Mia so badly that it helps me wait the big night. Thanks for this very interesting post. I don’t need to go out and get a cold thanks to you. I can have a look at the displays on the web, with my hot chocolate !
