The George V, the most elegant hotel on Earth?

September 7, 2011

Located in the heart of the golden triangle, i.e. the ultimately chic district located in the 8th district between the Champs Elysees, Avenue George V and Avenue Montaigne, the George V is named after English King George V. It opened in 1928 and has almost 250 rooms. The 5-star hotel which belongs to the Four Sasons Group, is at the center of the controversy that followed the publication of the new list of French palaces last May. According to many professionals, the Georges V is the most prestigious hotel in the world. It has always been a distinguished pied a terre for the privileged and yet, it has not been selected by French officials. It shouldn’t have difficulty however maintaining its attractiveness  as its tradition of unsurpassed beauty and excellent service cannot be challenged. Notable guests include General Eisenhower or more recently pop superstar Madonna.

As most Parisian palaces, the George V underwent an extensive revamping that brought it back to its original splendor. Its different restaurants all offer a mouthwatering cuisine. The “Cinq”, run by French Chef Eric Briffard, has two Michelin stars, thanks to an inventive cuisine mixing creativity and tradition. It is one of the best dining venues inParis.
